Contributor Agreement
The terms that govern how chartered engineers and trade professionals publish, earn, and engage on EngTree — built around the principle that contributors keep ownership.
Status — drafting in progress
This document is being authored by our legal advisor.
EngTree is pre-launch ahead of our Pre-Seed raise. Formal legal documentation — drafted by a qualified UK solicitor, reviewed for UK GDPR + ICO compliance and engineering-sector-specific liability — is being authored in parallel and will be published here before public launch.

- Eligibility — chartership / IEng / international-equivalent / accredited-trade requirements
- IP ownership — contributor retains; EngTree takes a non-exclusive licence to publish (never an assignment) — you keep the right to teach the same material elsewhere
- Right-to-share warranty — you confirm the content is your own professional knowledge: not employer-confidential, not NDA-bound, and not third-party copyright (BS / Eurocode / ICE text, client drawings)
- Confidentiality — teach the principle, not the project; anonymise any live-project specifics
- Standards & copyright — cite standards, never reproduce them verbatim; limited fair-dealing extracts only
- Takedown & notice-and-action — how a rights-holder flags content for removal, alongside your 30-day right to withdraw any entry
- Revenue share model — the six (now eight) revenue streams in detail with platform/creator split per mechanic
- Pro Tier opt-in — what £15-25/mo unlocks, what stays free baseline
- Compensation menu — cash · endowment · scholarship fund · honour-only · founder equity option
- Strand obligations — Mentor quota commitments, Research output expectations, Hire process integrity
- Validation responsibilities (when you choose to validate other contributors)
- Code of conduct — what you publish carries your name and credential; consequences of misuse
- CPD export consent — how your strand activity flows to institutional portals
- Termination and channel-content portability
- Founding Fellow programme terms (if elected) — recognition tier, editorial board eligibility, equity-pool consideration
