EngTree
Pathways.

Practise the job before you do the job. Deliver real UK engineering projects in a safe environment — with an AI coach explaining the why behind every decision you make.

The PRACTISE layer of EngTree. Engineering knowledge, shared and verified — then put to work.

How Pathways fits

One platform.
Three ways to grow.

EngTree already lets engineers and builders learn from verified knowledge and prove their competence. Pathways adds the missing middle — the chance to practise it.

LEARN

Verified knowledge

The knowledge tree, entries and video — captured from senior chartered engineers and master tradespeople.

PRACTISE

EngTree Pathways

Apply that knowledge in playable, real-project scenarios. Make the call. See what happens. Understand why.

PROVE

Competence & credentials

Competency records, trophies and apprenticeship / end-point-assessment evidence that count toward chartership.

The journey

Six rings, from
sixth form to the boardroom.

At junior rings you deliver projects. At senior rings you run companies. The same simulation grows with you across a whole career — launching with Mechanical, Civils and Structural disciplines.

Ring 1

Sixth Form

What does an engineer actually do? First exposure to the disciplines and the decisions.

Ring 2

University / Degree Apprentice

Bridge the gap between the maths you were taught and the judgement the job needs.

Ring 3

Graduate

Deliver your first real projects — HS2, Crossrail, Hinkley — and learn from the consequences.

Ring 4

Early Career

Take ownership. Manage the contractor, the programme, the difficult client, the dispute.

Ring 5

Pivot

Move between sectors and disciplines without losing momentum or starting from zero.

Ring 6

Director

Run the company. Win the work, carry the risk, build the team, steer the business.

Live data · Skills England occupational maps

The rings climb a
government-validated spine.

Pathways isn't built on a structure we invented. Every ring binds to the official Skills England occupational map — the same register employers, colleges and assessment bodies already use. 522 occupations across two routes, 466 with a published apprenticeship standard, 411with a government progression map from Level 2 to Level 7.

What makes it different

A coach that explains
why, not just what.

Most training tells you the answer. Pathways shows you the consequence. When you stage a possession, sign off a design, or push back on a contractor, an AI coach walks through what just happened and why — grounded in the real frameworks the industry runs on (CDM 2015, NEC4 / JCT / FIDIC, Eurocodes, Agile, Lean).

And the scenarios aren't invented. They come from the same senior engineers and master tradespeople who anchor EngTree's verified knowledge — the people who've actually lived the decisions. That's the loop: the profession teaches the next generation, and the simulation does the teaching.

AI gives you the answer. Chartership gives you the judgement to know if the answer is right.

Pathways is where that judgement gets practised.

Where this is up to

Specced, prototyped,
and building next.

Done already

  • Full product specification
  • A library of real UK projects to play through
  • A working interactive prototype
  • The AI-coach design and the data model

Building next (Stage 1.5)

  • The live, playable simulation here at engtree.org/train
  • Ring 1–4 “deliver projects” mode first
  • The AI coach wired in end-to-end
  • Competency records that count toward apprenticeships

Want to help shape it?

We're working with senior engineers and institutional partners on the first scenarios. If you train graduates, run an apprenticeship programme, or want your project on the platform — let's talk.
