Minety Battery Energy Storage System

Minety, Wiltshire, England · 2020–2021 (Completed and fully operational early 2021) [1] [2]

The judgement call

Account-gated at launch

Minety is a significant project in the UK's energy transition, supporting the decarbonization of the electricity system by storing surplus energy from renewables and providing flexibility to the grid. It was the first large battery storage project undertaken by a Chinese company in Europe. [1] [3]

Key engineering challenges

Integrating a large-scale battery storage system (150MW) into the UK National Grid. [1] - Utilizing both NCM and LFP battery energy storage system solutions. [3] - Providing grid stability services and enabling energy arbitrage. [4]
